Lola

Date unknown. Found in a Colorado estate sale.

She walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice
She said Lola, L-O-L-A, Lola, L-L-Lola

Notes: I'm not sure whether this photo is from a prom or a military ball. Thoughts?

Hostess

1959. Found at a Lakewood, Colorado estate sale.

Oh pretty girls, you're too good for this
How you break my heart in this cold waiting room
Oh pretty girls, you're too good for this
Don't let them tell you you're nothing
Don't let them break your hearts too

Darling with dachshund

Photo found in Orange, California.

I'm a tiny dog named Dixie,
I have small feet which pitter patter on the linoleum floor,
You can hear my toenails in the middle of the night.
My tag says I belong to the Johnsons, but they don't own me,
They just feed me, they just bought me one day.
No one owns me, I'm Dixie the tiny dog.
--Peter Himmelman

Notes: This is my very first dachshund photo find. I was really excited. I hope it won't be my last.

Blindfold and ballet slippers

Photo found at an estate sale in Lakewood, Colorado.  Back of photo reads, "Nearly 6."

Well I think it's fine, building jumbo planes
Or taking a ride on a cosmic train
Switch on summer from a slot machine
Yes, get what you want to if you want, 'cause you can get anything

I know we've come a long way
We're changing day to day
But tell me, where do the children play?

Look sharp

Photo found in Orange, California. Date unknown.

You gotta look sharp
You gotta look sharp
And you gotta have no illusions
Just keep going your way looking over your shoulder
--Joe Jackson

Notes: I am pretty sure the little dog is wearing a cowboy hat. I couldn't resist this photo because I have a very similar looking dog, and she has a very similar looking hat (though it's a mariachi hat from Mexico). You wouldn't believe the stuff that comes up if you run a search for "dogs in hats."

Land of the free and home of the brave

Photo found in Orange, California. Date unknown.

And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
